Intercultural Charter School
On August 18, 2008, MQVN CDC partnered with the Intercultural Charter School Board to open the Intercultural Charter School (ICS) located in the heart of Village de l'Est. ICS is a public charter school and opened with kindergarten through 5th grade. It will add a grade each year and currently serves kindergarten through 7th grade. ICS's mission is to create an excellent school for our community with academic rigor, great pride in diverse cultures, and a passion for learning throughout life. We are offering Vietnamese as a foreign language to all our students and will expand to other languages in future years.
We are working toward building a permanent green school that will be environmentally friendly. Our vision is a community-based school that will reflect the lives of the community and integrate our projects (urban farm, open market, health center, retirement center, cultural center, etc.) into the curriculum and students’ daily lives.
For more information, please call ICS at (504) 662-0220.
